dj diA was raised in the San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire and has adored Claremont for The Village and Rhino Records since high school. Serving as a volunteer DJ at KSPC for over ten years, diA previously hosted “Songs for the Whippersnapper”, a long-running novelty & kids show that ended in 2018. She currently hosts three unique shows: “Synthdactyl Program” (analog and modular synthesizer music), “Radio Realness” (underrepresented artists of multiple genres), and “Cloud Villa” (a collection of music from Asian countries). In addition to her radio shows, diA also currently works as an Administrative Associate at KSPC / Pomona College, which she considers a dream job.
A staunch activist and vegan, diA serves a steering committee member of “Turn It Up!”, a collective which works toward gender parity in music, while also curating and DJing at electronic/experimental music shows at local and Los Angeles venues that foster these values. Regarding Claremont’s musical future, diA mentions that she would love to see an increase in D.I.Y. inclusive safe spaces for punk / experimental music and art performances.
